How Does FNSB Approach HR?

The First Nation School Board (FNSB) takes an HR approach deeply rooted in Yukon First Nations’ knowledge, values, and ways of being. This approach integrates traditional Indigenous principles, prioritizes community collaboration, and emphasizes inclusivity to ensure the well-being and success of both staff and students.

What is the Philosophy Behind the Way Our Team Works?

At the heart of FNSB’s HR approach is the belief that people thrive when they feel connected, respected, and supported. This philosophy reflects "our way," which emphasizes interconnectedness, reciprocity, and harmony in all relationships. This approach serves as a model for reconciliation and organizational success in Yukon First Nation-led education.

Value and Ethics Code

Values and Ethics Code

The Values and Ethics Code  integrates existing laws and policies that guide the conduct of public servants to create one document that clearly describes in plain language what is considered professional conduct in the Yukon government public service. This code helps lay the foundation for the kind of organization we are striving to be, and it helps us foster an engaged and diverse public service that embraces innovation, as defined in the People Plan. The Values and Ethics Code features our core values and defines how to practice these values in our day-to-day work

For all new employees, reviewing the Values and Ethics Code is a requirement during onboarding and they must acknowledge they have read the code when they take their Oath of Office. The existing employees need to read the code or take the self-directed course on YG Learn and verify it on My HR File, by clicking on Values and Ethics Code and checking the box labeled "Read and Agreed" and then click submit. Managers and supervisors can see the status of everyone in their team and can also verify on an employee’s behalf.
